A Different Kind of Banana Split

img_8199.JPGDesserts were scarce in my home growing up.  My parents were funny when it can to eating sweets, and not necessarily in the funny, haha way. In fact, we only ate desserts on special occasions.  There were Sunday dinners, but they usually ended with a piece of fruit or toasted hazelnuts that we would crack and eat as our conversations came to close.

As much as I bake, one might think I have rebelled in my old age and actually eat dessert as a main course. Not so much.  In fact, more of a candy girl, I still don’t eat many of desserts. Nonetheless, cravings do creep up every now and again — like the other night. What could I throw together with the little that I keep on had that doesn’t need preparation? Little did I know that some fruit and cool whip could taste like a banana split!

With one scoop of partially defrosted fat free dairy whip (I used the store brand version of Cool Whip), slices of banana, two ladyfingers, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce, I was in heaven.  This was one delicious treat at a fraction of the calories of an ice cream dessert.
