Mmmm - Barney Butter, a great alternative to peanut butter
Editor’s note: Some children with peanut allergies are also sensitive to other nuts, so please be careful with substituting other nut butter if your child has a food allergy.
You remember those jars of all-natural peanut butter with the big layer of oil on the top… the one that drips down the side when you try to mix it all up? Say goodbye to the mess and to the peanuts! And say hello to Barney Butter.
Barney Butter is a new brand of almond butter that is already mixed, delicious, and best of all — it is made in a peanut-free facility! If your child is allergic to peanuts, now you can purchase a delicious alternative that is produced in a way that will keep her safe!
An extra bonus for those of you concerned with such things — it is produced from California grown and roasted almonds!
My kids wanted to offer a few of their favorite ways to use Barney Butter:
- In a sandwich with nutella (and sliced bananas or strawberries, if that floats your boat)
- Spread on graham crackers
- Spread on bread, topped with shredded cheese and then toasted (sounds odd, but my daughter swears by it! Who am I to stop food creativity?)
- As a dip for carrots, celery or apples
