Chocolate Cake in 5 Minutes!

5 minute cake in mugI saw this post about 5 minute chocolate cake and thought it was a joke. So, you know, I had to try it.  Holy Moly… this is great!  I instantly thought of how perfect this would be to do with kids. Until now, I always thought the ice cream muffins were a great kid-friendly baking recipe.  Then, I felt bad when my mom told me of her baking day with my niece, and about how she wasn’t thrilled with how her muffins turned out.  She’s has to try this one, now.  Maybe the chocolate will please her palate.

Here’s what Dizzy tells us to do…

Chocolate Cake SpoonedIn a coffee mug, mix 4 tablespoons cake flour, 4 tablespoons sugar, and 2 tablespoons cocoa.  Add 1 egg and stir.  Pour 3 tablespoons milk and 3 tablespoons oil, mixing well until you see a cake batter.  Microwave for 3 minutes on maximum power. Wait until it stops rising and sets in the mug. Unmold onto a plate and enjoy!

Now, I am a typical educator and didn’t follow directions.  I microwaved the cake for 5 minutes, which made it a bit overcooked.  But, it was still delicious and you can be sure I will be trying this again, and cooking it appropriately.
