Yummy Spoonfuls Makes Babies Coo!

I saw an SUV pass by while running errands and noticed the Yummy Spoonfuls logo and website on its door. It had a cute name, so I wrote it down and decided to check it out when I got to a computer.
We all know how important it is that we pay attention to what our […]

Freeze! Check out these crunchy bananas!

So, I’m guessing when you saw the title of this post, you thought it would be about banana chips. This time you’d be wrong. There’s more than one way to make a banana crunchy, and this week I had the opportunity to try freeze-dried bananas.
What’s the difference? Well, freeze-dried bananas are more crispy and generally […]

And the Next Rising Mango Star is…

A few months ago, the National Mango Board held a kid’s cooking contest, Rising Mango Star. Of all the youngsters who submitted videos, three finalists were chosen travel to New York to compete against one another on August 8th.  The prize?  The chance to appear with Ingrid Hoffmann (from Simply Delicioso) on TV’s video magazine […]

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

We didn’t exactly set out to make pumpkin whoopie pies. It was about 95 degrees out, and pumpkin was the furthest thing from our minds. In fact, my daughter had a recipe for cream-filled lemon sandwich cookies picked out and, lemon lover that I am, I was definitely on board. But there was that long-lost container of cream […]

Snacking In The Woods

Next week we’ll be taking the kids on our once-a-year camping excursion.  For one week out of the year, we pitch a tent in the wilderness and reconnect with each other in a very peaceful manner. Our choice campgrounds are always the ones with the least amenities — no running water, no camp store, no […]

Food Expeditions with Kids, episode 4

We truly enjoyed tasting the variety of marmalades that were available with breakfast each day. Their flavors were bright and fresh, and were a wonderful change from the predictable flavors of jam we can find at home.

Naranjilla (Lulo) with sugar: This marmalade comes from a greenish citrus fruit and contains small flecks […]

Olive Garden’s One Healthy Children’s Menu Choice

Personally, I would expect Olive Garden to be one of the healthier options in the restaurant chain choices. After all, they don’t tend to offer too many fried foods and they serve up salad at the start of each meal.
I was a bit off-put to see that Olive Garden doesn’t provide comprehensive nutritional information, however. […]

Recipe for Action - Placemats for Children in the Hospital

Summer is here, and it’s time to think of all the different types of fun things you can do with your family. We have been thinking a lot about different ways we can help others, mostly through the act of cooking for and feeding others. But we had a great idea for how we […]

A cool and refreshing summer snack

As my kid-filled summer comes to an end this week, I did have the wee ones one more time at my house this week. Since I am leaving town in a couple of days, I didn’t have a lot in the house. What to feed them? What to feed them?
While their dad took them to my subdivision’s […]
