In Search Of Hydration

Sigg bottlesOne of a parent’s many concerns in the warmer months is whether or not their children are getting enough fluids. As children become even more active in the increasing temperatures, it’s easy to overlook the simple task of drinking water. I think we all know that water is essential to staying healthy, but frequently we find ourselves on the go and in need of a water-carrying vessel. Bottled water is an easy solution, and for a while, that was our answer. With growing concerns about all the plastic we were throwing out, and all the concerns over plastic eventually leeching into the water, I sought out a more permanent solution.

SIGG bottles are an answer to a long quest for the perfect water bottle. These bottles, in literally hundreds of designs, are virtually indestructible. These bottles have a special design to them that prohibits bacteria growth and is also resistant to odor absorpsion — meaning that you can put grapefruit juice in one day and the next day your sport drink will still taste like a sport drink. The kid’s designs are especially fun and very user friendly. The bottles have a domed cap which when popped open reveals a top easy for children to drink from. They are safe, personable, and totally fun to drink from. My son wants to take his bottle everywhere with him. I love that, because I know he’s drinking water when he has his bottle with him. My daughter takes hers to her weekly ballet class and all her friends gaze enviously at her bottle while they drink out of the water fountain.

Featured in magazines and newspapers around the country, SIGG bottles are 100% recyclable and 100% kid-approved.

I have been looking at these bottles. My question is how you make sure you are getting them clean. Is the mouth wide enough to get your sponge inside to wash it?

Tamara, the top is not wide enough for a sponge, but a pliable enough baby bottle washer could get in. The bottles are dishwasher safe as well. One of the things I love about these bottles is that they don’t have nooks and crannies that trap dirt. I feel completely comfortable just washing them in hot soapy water. I fill them about half full with hot dishwater, put the lid on and shake it a few times.
