Snack Time!

Snack time.  The time of day that drives parents crazy everywhere.  The hardest partgorp about snack time in our house is enforcing good food choices.  With so many convenience items available at the grocery store, it can be difficult to find a snack that suits little tastes and big time constraints.  We do have our fair share of granola bars and fruit snacks in our house, but lately, the snack of choice has been an old favorite.

Gorp is probably the number one requested snack by my little gremlins.  Good Ole Raisins and Peanuts is simply that, raisins and peanuts together.  We happen to prefer dried cranberries to raisins, so that’s what goes in our gorp, but we always have the makings for a handful of gorp available.  And while every once in a while we add a handful of chocolate candies for a treat, most often it’s honey roasted peanuts and dried cranberries that carry the young tummies to the next meal.  Gorp is an excellent after school snack at home, and also an excellent on-the-road snack.  We always take a container of gorp with us on road trips to try and reign in the convenience store snacking that occasionally takes over.

The next time you find yourself in the snack aisle, dismayed by all the not-so-good choices, remember that old favorite gorp.  It will tickle the taste buds of all the snack masters in your house.
